Elijah Simpson, son of Hugh Simpson and Mary Ann Long, was born 1 March 1789 in Pendleton Co., SC.
Elijah is probably listed in the household of Hugh Simpson enumerated in the 1790 federal census of Pendleton Co., SC.

He married Elizabeth Marrs 1 March 1819 in Warren Co., KY.
Elizabeth, daughter of William Marrs, was born 1 June 1798 in Logan Co., KY. She was known as Betsy in several documents. Betsy is the sister of Margaret, wife of Elijah’s brother James.
He died 16 April 1819 probably in Warren Co. His burial location is unknown at this time.
Betsy and her child may be in her father-in-law Hugh Simpson’s household enumerated in the 1820 federal census of Warren Co., KY.
According to one source, Betsy died 15 August 1840 however there is no other document to collaborate with this date of death. She may have moved to Arkansas with her brothers and sisters. There is no further information on Betsy and child at this time.
