Elias died 30 March 1854 probably in Warren Co., KY by hanging himself and his burial location is on a private land, located 4/10 of a mile west of Jack Smith Road on Russellville Road behind a house in Warren Co. at this time. His gravestone was given to one of his descendants.
Transcription of Elias’ will in the Will Book D, page 386, of Warren Co., KY:
I, Elias Simpson of the County of Warren & State of Kentucky do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking & holding null and void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made. And first it is my will & desire that my body be decently interred & that my funeral cem. monies be conducted in a manner corresponding to my estate & condition in life. I will and desist my executors hereinafter mentioned to pay all my debts and the expenses of my funeral as soon after my decease as may be convenient & out of the first moneys which they may have in their hands arising from any portion of my estate real or personal. I will and direct that appraisement of my estate be made and that my wife Nancy be allowed to choose and select from my entire [   ], one third in value of my whole estate this in lieu of dower, that is she is to have and third of my entire estate & she is to have any part she may choose and after her death the property or estate which is devised to her is to be divided between Elias Thompson, Mary & William C. Simpson my three children equally. I will and direct that after the allotment of the one third to my wife as abovementioned that my estate be divided into three portions for my three children and that the portion allotted to my son Elias Thompson shall be worth five hundred dollars more than that of my son William and also that my daughter Mary receive a portion worth five hundred dollars more than my son William, that is my son Elias Thompson & my daughter Mary receive equal portions of my estate that they respectively receive five hundred dollars more in valuation than my son William. I do this because William is grown & has received his education Elias Thompson & Mary are small & are yet to receive their education. It is my will and desire that my two children Elias Thompson & Mary be well educated
